Case Studies

NOSS produces an objective description of the threats, errors and undesired states prevalent in operations, as well as how controllers detect and manage those events and their effect on operations. Any given NOSS will provide feedback on numerous aspects of operations that are performing well and areas that might be ripe for improvements before negative events occur. ANSPs have full discretion on safety interventions. The following case studies are just a handful of hundreds of interventions that ANSPs have enacted as a result of NOSS findings.

Identifying & reducing complexities

Identifying strengths & improving weaknesses

Enhancing barriers of defense / monitoring capabilities

Transference of effective unit-level practices

Augmenting & reinforcing incident data

Hazardous airspace and improper documentation

Positive feedback & enhancing training
